AVSL 2021 /22 Round 4

ESS finished the day on top of the AVSL Premier division ladder, 2400 points in front of second placed DIV who were a further 4000 pts in front of ladder leaders, Eaglehawk in 3rd. The ladder after round 4 is taking shape. Eagles 43*, Hunters 42*, ESS 38 in third spot with our Power Play to come in round 5. DIV round out the top 4.

Once again, the M40+team’s 24 athletes lead the way with a whopping 14,792 team points representing 30% of the club’s 48,763 points. The F14 team also ended the day on top with 8,095 points; the M16 squad finished 2nd (4824) while the F16 team finished 3rd (5959).

A big thank you to everyone who offered to help at Keilor. Most were not required but Round 5 is looking very busy, hopefully you’ll jump onto the Club Helper app and get it filled.

We also need 5 people to help put up the marquees from 11.30am next Saturday.

Next week, Round 5, the club will use its Power Play. This will give us Double Premiership Points; this is the round were we can get back on top. Those who haven’t competed this season, round 5 is the time to do at least one event. If you normally do just one event, try doing 2; if you do 2 events, try doing 3 .if you normally do 3 events, you’re a champ!

Our success was helped along by the efforts of many of our new members. Welcome to the club!

Seven members headed to Bendigo for some team bonding and were welcomed by the locals.

Imogen Makin (F14) competed in the shot put at Geelong; it was Imogen’s first throw since breaking her finger back in January. It’s great to see her back; she also throw the javelin 19.95m.

Another great effort came from Molly Bremner (F14) who was tripped early in her 3000m, but got up to finish the event in a time of 12:18.

Great news out of the US this week with Aidan Roberts competing indoors over 3000m, finishing in a smart 8:13.36 – a PB. We hope to have Aidan back competing for us at some stage this season.
