Storm damage to trackMonday 1st March 2010 You can either click on the images to the right to enlarge them or instead click here to view the article with the images enlarged. Our track was almost at the mid-point of Melbourne's freak storm. Damage is under repair but track is closed. Don Martins' report follows. Photo is track during construction in 1970. The damage is not that bad!
I inspected the track this morning and it really is a mess. The council have a team of contractors lifting the topsoil that has come down the hill and then pressure cleaning the surface. This will take an estimated three days with the track remaining closed for that time. They are hoping to have (the track only) open for the Little A's on saturday morning and the MVCC fun run sat arvo. The jump pits are in worse condition - and it will be well into next week before the top soil is removed and a decision made regarding the replacement of the sand. Obviously the track and jumps are closed for training till the weekend and I will keep you up to date with what happens from there.
