2 excellent club eventsSunday 21st February 2010 You can either click on the images to the right to enlarge them or instead click here to view the article with the images enlarged. The Trivia Night with 136 participants on 19th Feb and the Peter Norman Classic on 20th Feb with record entries were both successes. Click for more.
Many club members helped. The Trivia Night was as usual steered with huge input from Arthur Whitchell with help from many including Tamara Hamond, Max Warlow, Andrew Boudrie, Elaine McLeod and Ian Williams. The Peter Norman Classic was successful due to great efforts by Daniel White and Don Martin supported by Dan Martin and many others. Performances at the Peter Norman should be posted fully on the AV web site. Congratulations to Jess Gulli winning the women's 200 for 2nd year in a row. Bola Lawal ran brilliantly to win the 100 yards and men's 200. Daniel Martin ran well for his 2nd time 2nd in the 200 in the low 21s after another fast 110m hurdle win. Andrew Boudrie had world class competition with David Rudisha and Sammy Jangui in the 400. Unfortunately David broke and his 46.5 was invitation only. Andrew again in the 47s was official winner with Sammy 3rd. (Photo: Sammy, Andrew & David). President's comments: A note to wrap up a very busy week: The Trivia Night was a great success - record numbers and a buzz through the room that I hadn't heard at previous events. Many thanks to Arthur for his leadership with the event, also to Tamara, Andrew, Sue and Donna for their valuable assistance. The Peter Norman has been run - I think it also was a great success, despite trying weather conditions, technology, false starts and protests. Again many thanks to all those that helped out on the day everyone on the committee. Special thanks to Daniel White who managed the entries from their reciept to getting them on the track - a job well done. Many thanks, Don Martin |
