FEES |
The fees for the current season for our club are shown here. Please click here to go to the AV web site then click the button "join athletics now". This will lead you to the place to choose Essendon to get a registration form for the upcoming athletics season. CLUB UNIFORM Uniforms are available at Club from Registrar. Women’s crop tops with briefs, women’s singlets, men’s singlets all $50 each. Club socks are available at $5 a pair. Shorts plain black. BILL BURKE SCHOLARSHIPS Bill Burke Scholarships are a continuous feature of our club. The scholarship provides free club membership for two years and one free singlet or crop top. There are ten scholarships. This number will be permanently maintained. When athletes complete their two years, new scholarships are awarded. Coaches, committee members and anyone associated with our club may recommend appropriate athletes for the scholarships. The athletes selected will not necessarily be top athletes. Bill’s wish was to encourage people to stay in the sport, who for financial or other reasons may have drifted away. Recommendations for these scholarship may be given to a committee member or e-mailed to enquiries at this web site. A couple of sentences are needed explaining why the recommendation should be considered. SUMMER COMPETITION The Aberfeldie summer competitions takes place most weeks from October to February usually Saturday afternoon or Tuesday evening. Programs vary over a three week period to ensure that the full range of events is covered. Teams from each club compete in graded senior divisions, juniors grades from under 14 to under 18, in both females and males. Our club has a large number of teams covering most grades. There are club team managers who coordinate the competitors to try to ensure that each athletes competes in preferred events and that each team is represented. The top 4 in each grade qualifying for finals. The atmosphere at Interclub is usually casual and very friendly, both within our club and between clubs. All athletes are able to enter Victorian championships in open or under age events. WINTER COMPETITION Road and cross country events are held from April to September, usually on Saturday afternoon. Some events are casual for our club only. Others are races or relays against other clubs. You run with everyone from the best runners in Australia to fun runners and joggers. This season is a lot of fun. |
