The Geard family

Most people around the club would know of talented youngster Ryan Geard.

Last year, aged 12 he ran 4.34.95 for 1500 metres. An outstanding performance at that age.

On Sunday 9th October it was Ryan's mum Sue Geard who stole the show, running a sensational marathon debut in the Melbourne Marathon.

Driving from Frankston to St. Kilda seems far enough, when you run it feels a lot further. Sue showed no signs of fatigue, and achieved a dream of breaking the magical "5-minute kilometre" barrier.

Sue said before the race she'd just be happy to make it and maybe get under four hours. She crossed the line in 3:28.05!
